Description:

Despite many years of interventions worldwide, UNICEF estimated that in rural areas roughly 1.7 billion people did not have access to safe drinking water in the year 2000. Upgrading of traditional water sources such as hand dug wells or scoop holes is a low cost and low technology solution, providing access to improved quality drinking water in rural areas.
