Rural services: successes and failures in funding professionalised maintenance programmes
Briefing for WASH Funders Group learning event 17 June 2024

Description:

Rural and small-scale water supply is on the one hand based on simple infrastructure and proven technologies and basic parameters of water quality/safety, quantity and availability are largely universal. On the other hand, rural contexts are as diverse as our environments, economies and societies – from pastoralists in the vast plains of Mongolia to remote island communities in the Pacific, densely populated floodplains of Bangladesh, remote farmsteads in the high Peruvian Andes, or rapidly growing towns in the lush rainforests of the Congo Basin. Each context brings its own set of opportunities and challenges.
