Developing Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Finance Strategies: A Guide UNICEF (English/Français/Español)

Description:

A national finance strategy for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) is key for accelerating progress towards national and international WASH targets. In 2015,
the international community committed, in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to achieve universal, equitable and affordable access to safe
drinking water and adequate sanitation and hygiene by 2030. The significant increase in finance needed to achieve the SDG WASH targets is not materializing (World Health Organization, 2019). Many governments and development partners are therefore committing to support the development of national and subnational WASH finance strategies as one way to strengthen system performance, make better use of existing funding and attract new investments.

The objective of this document is to support governments and development partners in promoting and facilitating the development of WASH finance strategies.
