uPVC and Solvent Cement Research - Interim Report

This is the first interim report of a Research Project on uPVC and solvent cements. Samples of solvent cement have been obtained by Consumer Research. Laboratory from seven countries and are undergoing chemical analysis and physical tests initially at the Materials Discipline of the Open University at Milton Keynes.

Results to date are proving most interesting, particularly in the resin. content and apparent viscosity. Conventional dry matter content varies. from 6% to 50% and viscosity from 35 cPs to 264,000 cps. The cements contain mixtures of solvents all from the ketone group.
