We would like to invite you to the first webinar of the RWSN Early series 2023, co-organised by Leave no one behind and Data for action themes, entitled: Opportunities and Challenges of Government-led SDG 6.1 monitoring in Fragile and Conflict Affected States.
Although countries are making progress in attaining SDG 6.1 target, they continue to face numerous challenges in monitoring progress especially in fragile states and conflicted affected areas. While the international community continues to respond to the on-going humanitarian needs across such countries, there is a critical need to start thinking beyond the emergency to achieve sustainable Water services that last. The first step to improve quality in WASH interventions is to measure it. For effective and efficient water policies and investments, including priority setting, it is important to have timely and credible data to guide the WASH sector actions.
This webinar will enable RWSN members and other rural water supply stakeholders to share and learn from experiences on opportunities and challenges of monitoring SDG6.1 in Fragile states and conflict-affected areas. We will reflect on which approaches can effectively be leveraged and scaled to strengthen government monitoring activities towards increased availability of high-quality data for evidence-based policymaking, planning and investments at all government levels.
