Knowledge-sharing: 

Our knowledge-sharing activities reach a global audience of practitioners, policy-makers and educators and are shared with the 12,000 members of the network. Opportunities for collaboration include: 

  • Online specialist Communities of Practice: Join one of RWSN’s specialist online groups to exchange with other rural water professionals, or sponsor an existing or new specialist online Communities of Practice. Find out more about RWSN’s online multi-language Communities of Practice here
  • Webinars: Contribute to our biannual webinar series. RWSN webinar series have been running since 2012 in multiple languages; each webinar attracts hundreds of participants. For more information see the webinar sponsorship package here
  • Publications: RWSN is known and respected for its publications on different aspects of rural water supply, which are written by members of the network. For more information see the RWSN publications guide
  • Events: RWSN runs a number of online and face-to-face events in the water and WASH sector, including the RWSN Forum which is organised every 5 years. 

Capacity-building: 

Improving skills and professionalism in the Rural Water Supply sector is critical to its success. RWSN brings together the know-how and expertise from different water supply technologies and service approaches from around the world. Opportunities for collaboration include: 

  • Face-to-face and online trainings: RWSN has run dozens of training courses on subjects such as drilling professionalism, solar pumping, or self-supply. Please see the following package on training courses that RWSN offers. 
  • Mentoring: RWSN runs the largest mentoring programme in the water sector, available in 3 languages. Since 2019 we have supported hundreds of young professionals in the water sector in improving their skills through the mentoring programme. We invite organisations to contribute to the mentoring programme through their skills, staff or through sponsorship. Find out more about the RWSN mentoring programme here

Knowledge-brokering: 

RWSN aims to bridge the gap between academic research, policy and practice and to encourage evidence-based decision-making, and decision-based evidence making.. Since 2013, RWSN has been a knowledge broker for the UPGro programme on Unlocking the Potential of Groundwater for the Poor, as well as for the REACH Programme

Opportunities for collaboration on knowledge-brokering include: 

  • Knowledge Management: Knowledge Exchange Strategy development and execution to maximise learning and sharing between research partners.
  • Programme coordination between the different projects of a Consortium 
  • Communications & promotion: website, newsletter, social media, face-to-face networking, webinars; guest lectures on post graduate courses.
  • Synthesis: Project Summaries & Briefing Notes (multiple languages), catalyst synthesis, overview presentations at events and meetings. 
  • Engagement & Influencing: raising the profile of research through policy dialogue and influencing
  • Organising & facilitating events, workshops and conference face-to-face and online events
  • Attracting additional funding and collaborative partners
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Development of programme results framework and reporting against it.
