BFD is a humanitarian, non-profit, non-sectarian agency that provides emergency relief, rehabilitation and development services throughout Yemen. BFD is currently responding to immediate and complex emergencies in Yemen governorate; Sana’a, Aljawf, Marib, Sa’adah, Amanat Alasimah, and Hajjah with support from the U.N. Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the U.N. World Food Program (WFP), the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and World Health Organization (WHO), and through partnership with International NGOs. BFD is providing mobile primary and reproductive health services, nutrition screening and treatment, multisector community outreach, Shelter, WASH, and education through a network of trained community health workers, and support to fixed health facilities. For these interventions, BFD targets districts lacking access to food due to closed shops, disruptions in food supplies, and increased food prices creating a severe need of food assistance. This experience has provided an ample basis upon which to build a comprehensive approach to urgent health, WASH, nutrition, food insecurity, and livelihoods.
