Summary

The general objective of the SIRWASH programme is to improve enabling policy, innovation and knowledge exchange environments and to foster the necessary capacities to deliver quality WASH services to rural communities with a particular focus on vulnerable and disadvantaged people.

In 2023, RWSN is collaborating with the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) and the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA) to share good practices an experiences within Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and encourage South-South exchange on rural WASH with practitioners in Africa and Asia.

This is the first event of the webinar series of the SIRWASH Programme (Sustainable and Innovative Rural Water, Sanitation and Hygiene)

The event will be multilingual, with simultaneous translation into EN, FR, PT, and SP.

Project Description

SIRWASH tiene como objetivo mejorar los entornos para las políticas, la innovación y el intercambio de conocimiento, y fortalecer las capacidades necesarias para prestar servicios de agua, saneamiento e higiene sostenibles y de calidad a comunidades rurales, con especial atención a las poblaciones vulnerables y menos favorecidas.

Asimismo, aportará a las comunidades rurales, en particular, a hogares pobres y vulnerables, beneficios como mejoras en salud y medios de vida con el mayor acceso a servicios sostenibles de agua, saneamiento e higiene.

Para alcanzar sus objetivos SIRWASH implementará sus actividades de asistencia técnica a través de tres acciones parciales (AP) ejecutadas así:

contribuir a cerrar las brechas en los servicios rurales de ASH (aceptabilidad, asequibilidad, sostenibilidad) mediante el fortalecimiento de las capacidades y la creación de un entorno propicio en los países seleccionados (Bolivia, Brasil, Haití, Perú). Implementado por el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo.
apoyar la creación y puesta en marcha de emprendimientos para brindar soluciones en ASH, liderados por jóvenes en los países de Latinoamérica. Implementado por Young Water Solutions
facilitar la conexión de modelos de impacto de mercado privado con las comunidades rurales para mejorar sus servicios de agua, saneamiento e higiene en Perú y Colombia. Implementado por Sistema B Internacional.
